This reminds me of something.... can't remember what, but it wasn't mario.

I'm speechless at this, and how well-placed it would be in a civilization game.

ForgottenDawn responds:

Thank you! Civilization, that's a nice reference. I loved V :)

I feel as though your baseline is actually pretty varied in this. But you said it yourself, it's pretty repetitive, and the melodies and percussion in particular. On the bright side, you're getting better at chord progression.

Your baselines sound a bit better varied than your last song in this one, and the melodies have slightly less variation. Unfortunately the percussion is way too sharp, and hurts my ears... besides the weak kick at the end.

Thank you for taking the time to write these reviews, I really appreciate the feedback. I'm having an issue where a lot of the instruments I use sound louder after being uploaded to NG than when I mixed them in FL Studio; I'm trying to figure out the issue behind this. I focus on a different area in each of these songs, and this one happened to be base lines. Hydrogen was melodies, and Lithium was chord progression, and you accurately pointed that out. I have a lot of things I need to work on in music production, so I figured I'd tackle them each in their element before mixing them. Thank you for acknowledging that, I promise I'll try to have a well-rounded, functioning song by Carbon. ;)

That kind of sound you're using for the melody at 0:45, that's not the same sound you've used for most of your songs. Not only do I like it better, but it's easier on the ears imo. The melodies also sound a lot more varied than your previous songs. You could work on your melodies more from here, but I feel as though the baselines or percussion would do better with a bit of work on variation.

Yuup, I agree with your description, it is a mess. You did seem to get a fairly simple melody like BoomKitty's songs, but the baselines and heavy percussion pretty much make up BoomKitty's songs, so I can see how you messed it up.

That bass drum/kick doesn't feel like it has enough impact when it first comes in, but feels perfectly in-place later, with the other percussion. The melodies feel unrepetitive, since you keep changing something. This is probably one of your best, or your best song yet. :)

AlexMaden responds:

Yea I noticed that the drum wasn't that loud now, but my headset has such a good base so I never realised how it would sound without them. I'm glad you think it's one of my best, because I feel the same. At first I was doubting that people would like it. Really appreciate you <3

I can hear your improvement a ton in this, it sounds like you put effort into the melodies, and the percussion. You also made your samples/synths sound much less sharp than before. Although, it sounds like you're using mainly the same sample/synth for pretty much all of the melodies. Maybe look for a free piano sample? There's a lot of good ones out there that you don't need to pay for. :)

Time to use this on a level in gd and make everyone say wtf because the song is 210.8 MB lmao.

Your drums need to be quieter. For the rest of it, you're doing pretty good. Keep it up. :)

ok thx :)
