Not gonna lie, your percussion is fooling me into thinking it's clipping even though it's mastered really cleanly. It loops super cleanly this time, too, but by far my favorite part is 4:10. That transition was super smooth and that melody felt just off-beat enough to feel like its own separate part, while still being a part of the track.

As a side note, I think you might've mastered this one a bit quietly, unlike your other songs I actually had to turn my volume up to be able to hear it properly.

zybor responds:

This was intended as a glitchhop track, but fixed into triphop, I forgot to remove the off beat parts.

Thank you for your review :)

This screams both WRONG and RIGHT to me in every way...

Gonna have to insist that the guy below me sends me the original version, the instrument quality and style for the intro and outro are way to different from the middle part for me.

Stroberider responds:

This track was originally meant to be mixed, which explains the intros and outros being the way they are. Thanks for the good score and review!

Can't say I'm a fan of the vocals in this one's drop, since it kills the feeling of absolute wonder you built up until then for me. Still really damn good, though.

So, your first focus needs to be on mastering things, because your songs need it. Badly. After that, work on sound design. You seem to be capable of making at least mildly interesting compositions, but your mastering and sound design need a hell of a lot of work.

MusicManSixtyFour responds:

THANKYOU SO MUCH.

It may be just me, but this sounds much more like techno or industrial than dance.

So, for the positives, it sounds moderately varied, mostly well-mastered, and the sound design seems on point.

Next, the parts that need work.
Your mix sounds a bit wet, your melodies feel a bit lacking in direction for most of the song, and your bass and percussion are walking over your melody in parts at 0:20 and 1:12. Lastly, the ending was a bit of a letdown, as you definitely had a chance to do something with the energy you had built up.

Overall, you have some minor mixing and mastering issues to work on, and your ending could be a lot better. As for the variation, you seem to definitely have the instrumental part of variation down, I'd suggest looking into automation tracks.

Do keep it up. A few more steps and you'll go from making good stuff to making great stuff.

JamesHeart responds:

Thanks for the feedback ^^ and i will look into fixing the issues

you found my one weakness automation tracks -_- i can use them ... i just .. i've been lazy on that end i guess

Thank you

Once you get some time to master this, it's gonna sound fucking amazing.

The composition is great, and the mixing and mastering is mostly spot-on. You have a great rythm here. I do think your sound design could use some work, though. The synth you use for the melody through most of the song is fairly basic, and sounds somewhat uninteresting after the first 20 seconds or so of it being used.

Please disregard me being three weeks late in seeing this.

SirHadoken responds:

No worries about the 3 weeks; I've probably seemed pretty dead for much longer than that haha. I was really focusing on having some fun with the composition and some practice with the mastering. I'm glad it worked out. :)
I've actually done a very very minimal amount of sound design work; I suppose I've been putting it off since it's the part about making music that I like the least. This review definitely reassures me that learning more about sound design should be my next step.

Thanks a bunch for all of the feedback you've given me over however many months; it's helped me get a general idea of what I should focus on, which is often the hardest part of moving forward. Happy late new year. ;p

Odd and incredibly satisfying to listen to. Almost loops smoothly, but not quite.

I wish you luck in overcoming your problems.

zybor responds:

Thanks a lot for your review! Cheers! Have a great weekend!
