So, your first focus needs to be on mastering things, because your songs need it. Badly. After that, work on sound design. You seem to be capable of making at least mildly interesting compositions, but your mastering and sound design need a hell of a lot of work.

MusicManSixtyFour responds:

THANKYOU SO MUCH.

So, for the positives, it sounds moderately varied, mostly well-mastered, and the sound design seems on point.

Next, the parts that need work.
Your mix sounds a bit wet, your melodies feel a bit lacking in direction for most of the song, and your bass and percussion are walking over your melody in parts at 0:20 and 1:12. Lastly, the ending was a bit of a letdown, as you definitely had a chance to do something with the energy you had built up.

Overall, you have some minor mixing and mastering issues to work on, and your ending could be a lot better. As for the variation, you seem to definitely have the instrumental part of variation down, I'd suggest looking into automation tracks.

Do keep it up. A few more steps and you'll go from making good stuff to making great stuff.

JamesHeart responds:

Thanks for the feedback ^^ and i will look into fixing the issues

Thank you

The composition is great, and the mixing and mastering is mostly spot-on. You have a great rythm here. I do think your sound design could use some work, though. The synth you use for the melody through most of the song is fairly basic, and sounds somewhat uninteresting after the first 20 seconds or so of it being used.

Please disregard me being three weeks late in seeing this.

SirHadoken responds:

No worries about the 3 weeks; I've probably seemed pretty dead for much longer than that haha. I was really focusing on having some fun with the composition and some practice with the mastering. I'm glad it worked out. :)
I've actually done a very very minimal amount of sound design work; I suppose I've been putting it off since it's the part about making music that I like the least. This review definitely reassures me that learning more about sound design should be my next step.

Thanks a bunch for all of the feedback you've given me over however many months; it's helped me get a general idea of what I should focus on, which is often the hardest part of moving forward. Happy late new year. ;p

Odd and incredibly satisfying to listen to. Almost loops smoothly, but not quite.

I wish you luck in overcoming your problems.

zybor responds:

Thanks a lot for your review! Cheers! Have a great weekend!

Not really my kind of thing, and it doesn't loop that well, but very interesting genre.

zybor responds:

Thank you!

This whole track is great. I do wish you'd stop putting all your tracks on loop, though.

zybor responds:

Life is a loop, just like all my tracks :P

Thank you for your review!

This is pretty awesome. I do wish the nasty base was a little quieter, but it's not stepping on top of anything very badly.

zybor responds:

Thanks for your review!

I actually love your composition here. I do feel the drums could be a bit heavier in parts though, and the mix feels pretty muddled in most of the louder parts of the track.

SplatterDash responds:

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, mixing is my weak spot in my songs, and I think I may have something I want to try out to see if it provides a solution, but I will definitely take your advice into consideration as I work with it :)

The sound design on this one seems a bit all over the place. You have some really good ones such as the guitar that comes in at 1:50, but then you have some like the percussion starting at 0:30 and lasting until 0:59 that sound really out of place and basic. The mastering sounds pretty good, though. It sounds like you tried really hard to not let your sounds walk over the others, even for the quiet ones in the back of the mix. Even at the parts with a lot of instruments playing, it doesn't become very muddled at all, unlike some of your other tracks.

zybor responds:

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response! :P

The mastering on this one often feels like a tall person sitting in front of a short person, you can tell the one behind them is there but only just barely. Your sound design on this one is pretty incredible though.

zybor responds:

Thank you for your review! Happy New Year to you :D
