This sounds like an odd mix of nostalgia, apprehension, regrets, loneliness, and depression. That doesn't stop it from sounding beautiful though.

Those are some very kind words! Thank you very much ^____^

It was definitely a decent mashup of the songs, your transition from the Crab Rave melody to the Megalovania one was a bit odd. The percussion you used for the last part of the intro doesn't really feel to go that well with the other percussion or the melody synth. I'd suggest lowering the volume on it and increasing the bass on it. On another note, the whole song feels like the BPM is a bit slower than either of the songs it's based off of.

I can absolutely see where you're coming from on this; since this was more of a meme song I didn't spend as much time trying to polish that stuff but I probably still should've. I got new headphones with better bass shortly after releasing this and it does sound a lot less balanced. I'll work on it; I might update it if I figure out a better way to handle it.
Thanks again, I always appreciate the feedback. )/

I both love this and can't stop laughing from how different everything is.

Not regarding the track, I had been mostly absent from newgrounds for a few months and didn't realize you had made a new account. Nice to see you still around. :)

zybor responds:

Welcome back. I'm always here. NG is my home.

The snare (I think it's a snare) feels kind of sharp at first. The dubstep sounds could be a bit smoother as well, and the fast-paced part starting at 1:13 sounds like everything's trying to be over everything else. Also, while most of the sounds individually sound fairly smooth, it definitely sounds like it needs some EQing to make them work together properly. I definitely prefer this to the original though, as it has variance, which the original completely lacked.

Honestly, the best way I've found to figure out how a synth works is to take lots of presets and toy with them until I figure out what does what. There could be several different ways to alter your sound in the way you want.

SirHadoken responds:

I agree with this pretty much whole-heartedly. I had a lot of trouble balancing the way that the drums sound so that they were strong enough in the drop but not too strong in the beginning. The variation is definitely what I was going for I suppose; I was hoping that I could get all of the sounds to agree with one another but I admit it does feel cluttered in some areas. I have to learn how to fix that lol.
Thanks again <3

I didn't notice any of the instruments clashing with each other at all. Also, while the volume levels may be a little wonky between the elements at time, I'm going to guess that's because of the missing vocals. Your composition is really good on this one.

If your friend's vocals don't work, I'd suggest throwing a synth in that has an option to make it slide inbetween notes, and do it to the same tune the vocals were meant to be.

SirHadoken responds:

Yeah, I still need to fix the volumes in a few spots but I had to adjust them to fill the emptiness left by the absence of the vocals. I'm really hoping that Ardant's vocals come out alright; if either of us are unsatisfied with them then I'll take your advice and find a synth to fit it.
The reason I didn't take this one down is because I was really satisfied with the production aspect, I'm glad to hear that you thought similarly about it! I had a lot of fun with this, especially at the 1:06 part. I want to do a whole song in that style if it's possible. Music gets really fun if you don't get stuck ;p

Dang, sorry I didn't come by sooner.. I've been a bit absent from newgrounds as of late.

This is a really neat idea for a song, and while I know you said you were just playing around with the idea, it's still pretty good. The main things I'd change is to eq the sound at :50, and to make the drums a little less sharp. Also, as far as the kick being choppy, that may be something on your end, because I'm not hearing it.

SirHadoken responds:

I saw this review and took it into great consideration but I never responded it to it for some reason. Thank you for the feedback; I've felt a little on the fence about this song but I've ended up being more proud of it than disgusted. I'm glad to hear that the annoying kick might just be a client-end thing, because I reuploaded this file at least 4 times trying to fix it. I was never able to hear if the drums were too sharp or not when it got down to the real fine-tuning, I appreciate it. ;p

The melody being constantly reused throughout the song really bothered me, and it feels like some volume levels are too high or too low, but it's far from bad.

SpeTheof responds:

thanks, i guess..

Firstly, I haven't checked back to see if you've made any new music in a long time, since I checked at least twice a week for a few months to see if you'd made anything and didn't find anything. That said, this is likely your best song to date. Your sounds are smooth and mesh together well, and you have the kind of variation that makes it sound the same, but with variety throughout the song. My biggest criticism is the transition from 1:18-1:20, which sounds a little weird. This is an otherwise excellent piece, and I definitely look forwards to your next track.

SirHadoken responds:

Thank you! I was looking forward to your response; I understand that I've basically been on hiatus with music and really nothing that I do is scheduled anymore, honestly. I'm really glad to hear this, and I'll look at that transition and see what I can learn from it for whatever track I decide to make next.
Now, it may take eleventeen years for that next track to happen.. 8)

I really like the atmosphere you create with this piece, but it starts feeling a bit muddled towards the end.

zybor responds:

Thanks man!

I usually am not really a fan of this genre, nor of vocals usage. However, this is so well-done all around that I can say I truly enjoyed it. If you keep putting out stuff this good, you may well have me stalking your audio list. ;P

FinnMK responds:

Thanks very much!
